But, when she decides to befriend Rosemary, Naomi’s lies quickly spiral out of control. She wants to do more ‘research’ on Rosemary, Naomi’s boyfriend’s ex. This is a good book for the beach as you can relax and also get some excitement out of this novel.
  2. Tell Me Everything: The Story of a Private Investigation by Erika Krouse- Those who love detective stories and novels, will surely enjoy this novel by Krouse. This is the author’s memoir where she recounts her time working for a private detective agency. When her boss tasks her with a new case about a sexual assault, she gets embroiled in the case only to find out a landmark legal battle awaiting her.
  3. The Hacienda by Isabel Canas- This Spanish novel describes the Mexican War of Independence in which Beatriz’s family lose all of their property and assets. But, when the rich handsome guy Don Rodolfo asks for Beatriz’s hand in marriage, she immediately says yes without thinking about the future consequences. But, there is something sinister about her new husband. Canas's debut novel talks about romance, dread and supernatural menace. This one makes an interesting read for the beach.

This is a very brilliant read and will let readers know all about O’Connell’s debut novel.
  5. Counterfeit by Kirstin Chen- This is the story of Ava Wong who is a hot-shot lawyer with a picture-perfect family. While everything on the outside looks shiny and sparkling, in reality, Wong’s problems are ever-increasing; her marriage and life are in tatters. Enter Winnie Fang, her college roommate who asks Wong to help take care of her counterfeit luxury purse business. But, soon after when disaster strikes, Winnie leaves, with Wong holding up the purse.
  6. The Girls in Queens by Christine Kandic Torres- In this novel, two girls named Brisma and Kelly are best friends and neighbours in the colony of Queens. They get separated when they grow up but reunite again as adults. Also, they have a third friend named Brian who is now a baseball player. Everything seems perfect and they decide to celebrate the reunion until Brian is accused of sexual assault. The girls now have to decide where their friendship stands after the fiasco. Brian is also Brisma’s first love.

We usually see many girls doing jobs that do not pay well and do not have a conducive environment as well for the job but do it because of their financial situation. Hariri-Kia has discovered the role of such girls in the protagonist of Noora.
  10. Disorientation by Elaine Hsieh Chou- This book follows Ingrid Yang's journey, as a Ph.D. student at a university. She is almost nearing the completion of her dissertation on the poet Xiao-Wen Chou when she discovers something unexpected in her university’s archives. What follows next is a funny and a roller-coaster ride through the halls of academia. Yang must decide where her relationship with the university now stands after she has dedicated her whole life to it.
