Feb 2-8 - Children Authors and Illustrators Week- International: Let Us Read: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
The third day brings us the very popular Lewis Carroll's Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Who does not want to fall down a rabbit hole and meet the wondrous creatures of all sorts? I mean, anything to escape today’s boring life right?
Well, while you may not be able to do that actually, what you can do is sit down with the book, picture yourself in the wondrous illustrations, and escape the world as we know it for a while.
Lewis Carroll was an accomplished writer who incorporated his wit and creativity to give us a story rich in fantasy and lessons of all sorts.
Written in amusing language and brimming with colorful characters, this book is definitely unputdownable.
Sir John Tenniel has supplied the illustrations for the book. He was not just a children's illustrator, he also worked for Punch magazine and was widely known for his humor. Perhaps it was his lighthearted view of the world that made him do justice to the eccentricity of Wonderland. We are not thankful enough for illustrators who have helped us by leading our imagination into unknown territories and supplying us wit hstarting material for our own daydreams!
So, why not spend a weekend with your children on your bed, reading aloud a story which will captivate them until you’re done? And, you don’t have to stop here, if you want to stay in this world for a while, you can also watch the movies later on. But not without reading it first!
We hope you will come back for more, or as Alice would say, get “curiouser and curiouser.”
