One of the most joyous holidays worldwide, Easter Day falls on a Sunday anywhere between March 22nd and 25th April according to the Gregorian calendar. You must be familiar with the Easter eggs and rabbits’ imagery. Here are some wonderful facts about Easter!
- It is also known as Pascha or Resurrection Sunday.
- The three main Easter colours are Purple, White and Gold.
- The holiday is named after the Anglo-Saxon goddess names Eostre. She is the Goddess of Light and Fertility.
- Pretzels used to be associated with Easter! The twists resembled arms crossed in prayer. Sounds like a very tasty association.
- In Germany, it is illegal to dance on a Good Friday. It is because Christians mourn the death of Jesus on Good Friday, so it is considered a mark of respect.
