Wonder Woman Day!

Wonder Woman is probably the most favorite character of modern times. Today’s youth be it girls or boys, admire her for her superhuman strength and her crime-fighting abilities.

She is a part of the DC Comics universe and has a lot of fans throughout the world. She is considered the founding member of the Justice League and her first appearance was in All-Star Comics #8 which was published on 21st of October 1941. She then subsequently appeared in Sensation Comics #1 in January 1942.

But she was not always called Wonder Woman. Back in her homeland of Themyscira, she is addressed as Princess Diana of Themyscira. When she mingles with civilians outside in a normal fashion, she adopts the name of Diana Prince. Wonder Woman has a number of abilities up her sleeve. Apart from having superhuman strength, she has speed, senses, reflexes, stamina, durability, and longevity.

Some of her other skills and abilities are accelerated healing factor, flight, a master at hand-to-hand combatant, and martial artist.

She also has the power of electrokinesis as well as divine empowerment and multilingualism. She uses a variety of weapons to deal with nasty criminals such as Lasso of Truth, indestructible bracelets, projectile tiara, sword, shield, and invisible jet.

When Wonder Woman became extremely popular in the comic universe, directors and film producers decided to bring her up on the big screen to attract more audiences.Wonder Woman was the brainchild of American psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston.

The portrayal of Wonder Woman has been done on both television and films.

In the animated series, Justice League, she has been voiced by multiple artists such as Shannon Farnon, Susan Eisenberg, Maggie Q, Lucy Lawless, Keri Russell, Rosario Dawson, Cobie Smulders, Rachel Kimsey and Stana Katic.

Where her portrayal in real life is concerned, Hollywood actresses such as Cathy Lee Crosby, Lynda Carter, and more recently, Gal Gadot have played the role of Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman has several enemies who are always hell-bent upon destroying her. Some of the villains she fights in one or the other episode are Ares, Cheetah, Doctor Poison, Circe, Doctor Psycho, and Giganta. Her more contemporary villains are Veronica Cale and First Born.

Wonder Woman has become a household name all over the world. She has a lot of merchandise to her name that is usually bought by girls. She can be found in apparel, toys, dolls, jewellery, and video games.
