Around The World

Feb 2-8 - Children Authors and Illustrators Week- International: Let Us Read: The Lord of The Rings by J R R Tolkien

If you want to be transported to another world, and go on quests, then The Lord of The Rings is the book for you. Written by J R R Tolkien, it is an intense fantasy world with characters, languages, and myths of its own. You will learn the importance of friendship, the value of being honest, and what it means to put other people’s goodwill before our own wishes.

Tolkien has been deemed as the author of the century because of how well-rounded his writing style is. He has given us so many beloved characters, a lot of lore to sift through even after we are done with the series, and his writing style makes it all more memorable.

Of course, we couldn’t just stop after talking about him. His stories have stood the test of time, as you can see from the millions of copies that are still being sold, and the new editions that keep getting launched. But we have to duly credit Pauline Baynes who illustrated his stories and made him get established as an author with important and worthwhile tales to tell. She has also worked with people like C S Lewis, which goes on to show how extremely talented she was when it came to conveying otherworldly artworks, pun intended!

The cult of Tolkien today is widespread, with fans from all countries. All we can say is, you should start early. Why not pick up the series today? Make it a nighttime routine, with one chapter as you go, and soon, you will be able to find your way around in the MIddle World.
